Our Story
The Snug Club was built to encourage creativity and reactivate imaginations in ways that help build community.
Born in Dublin and raised in Oregon, Snug Club founder, Fiona Gwozdz Mancill, has long dreamed of bringing more of the community-grounded culture of her soggy little island to life in Oregon’s wine country.
In Irish culture, the pub is a central community hub - one where people come to share ideas, tell stories, laugh, create and connect. Ireland also boasts a culture that celebrates the arts - in all forms - and on a daily basis. From incredible music and poetry, to powerful, disruptive artistic endeavors that change the course of history (alá Repeal the 8th), Ireland and her peoples are known around the world for a creative spirit that brings people together.
With the central concept of creating a community hub as a driving force, Fiona is working to build a makers pub in McMinnville, Oregon. The Snug - A Makers Pub will be an inclusive space where anyone can come and test out new mediums, explore their talents, and cultivate ideas - all in a casual atmosphere that fosters community (and where of course you can nab a creamy pint or carefully crafted cocktail!). Unfortunately, as Covid rages on, making an investment in a physical space is currently on the back burner - ENTER THE SNUG CLUB!
We’ve taken the concept of The Snug - A Makers Pub and made it digital.
With quarterly makers boxes, DIY online tutorials and engaging activities (including mocktail making), The Snug Club aims to build community through creativity. We work with local & sustainable vendors to curate beautiful boxes that bring joy, encourage out-of-the-box thinking and spark fresh ideas for crafts and craft cocktails/mocktails alike. We also give back to community organizations that support marginalized populations, climate justice and equality.
WHY? We believe we all have a part in creating the world we want to live in, and everyone has the ability to create. We must ALL be creators and makers - and work to build a brighter, more sustainable and inclusive future where everyone can thrive, together.
